USO Colorado proudly honors the life and legacy of longtime volunteer Genevieve “Genie” Losiewicz Rodgers, who passed away on September 25, 2025, at the age of 98. A devoted supporter of the military community, Genevieve’s generosity, humor, and unwavering commitment to service exemplify the very best of the USO spirit.

Genevieve dedicated eight years of volunteer service to the USO Center at Fort Carson, where she and her sister, Helen Weathersby, were affectionately known as “the sisters.” Together, they welcomed service members to the center, prepared meals, picked up supplies, and created a warm, caring environment to keep troops connected to family, home, and country.

Volunteering at the USO was a natural extension of Genevieve’s lifelong connection to the military. Her husband, Lt. Col. Benjamin Losiewicz, served as a B-17 pilot in World War II and went on to build a distinguished career in the U.S. Air Force. Together, they spent time stationed in multiple locations across the United States and in Japan. Throughout Benjamin’s many deployments and while raising their two children, Genevieve built a rich life centered on family, community, and hospitality. Her compassion and care reached far beyond her own household; she was known for opening her home and her heart to everyone, a quiet example of the selfless service and warmth at the heart of the USO’s mission.

USO Colorado Executive Director Linda Mays attended Genevieve’s funeral service on October 16th to pay tribute on behalf of the USO. In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations to USO Colorado—a gesture that beautifully reflects Genevieve’s enduring generosity and service. USO Colorado extends heartfelt condolences to Genevieve’s family, and deep gratitude for sharing her story and legacy. Her devotion to service, partnership with her sister, and true joy in supporting others will continue to inspire our volunteers and staff for years to come.
