#USOHolidays Buckets of Fun
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has made this summer a very different experience for military kids and their parents. Recognizing that, we wanted to give kids something fun and new to keep them busy, giving parents a break – we called it “Buckets of Fun!”
Each of the 48 brightly colored buckets was filled with toys - beach balls, jump ropes, frisbees, bubbles, and water sprayers, with snacks, a water bottle, and some creative activities including a glider kit and summer themed fuzzy poster to color. All things we hoped military kids between the ages of 5-12 years old would enjoy playing with while everyone continues to social distance. From the smiles in the photos we received it looks like they were a hit!
Families at FE Warren and Buckley picked up their buckets during one of our drive thru events, taking them home to open and enjoy. One family said, “We had fun surprising our kids with the buckets, little things like this help make them feel special and they loved the variety of inclusive activities too!” A military spouse and mom told us, “Thank you for helping keep my kids busy and playing outside away from the video games, this was great!”
