Capturing the Love of Military Families with The Imaging Alliance "Portraits of Love" and Mike's Camera Denver

Photographs connect us to our past, remind us of people, places, feelings, and stories – for military families, photographs keep us connected with loved ones all over the world. That’s where the USO & The Imaging Alliance’s Portraits of Love program comes in. On February 22nd, USO Denver teamed up with Mike’s Camera Denver and The Imaging Alliance to connect the talents of two local professional photographers with military families from all branches and all components (active duty, currently serving national guard and reservists) of the military.

This year’s event brought together 49 military families and captured their love, making memories to cherish long into the future. Each family had the opportunity to work with a professional photographer onsite at Mike’s Camera and received printed and digital images from their session at no charge.

Participating families told us why this program is important to them:

“In the military we spell love T-I-M-E, so much is missed by our service member that any time we can find a way to connect and spend time together it is a blessing and a gift.”

“This was important for my family as we are sending these photos in a care package for my husband. To get awesome pictures - with Mom - during deployment helps bring comfort to our service member and creates a memory that otherwise wouldn’t be there.“

Launched in 2009 by the PhotoImaging Manufacturers & Distributors Association as a program to send military family portraits to deployed service members, now branded under The Imaging Alliance “Portraits of Love” gives back to the community by providing joy to build strength and create forever lasting memories.
